Guiding Families Through a Sacred Milestone

Alison Tothy, MD

Certified Mohelet

The Brit Milah (Bris) ceremony is the oldest continuously performed ritual in the Jewish tradition. It symbolizes a newborn boy’s entry into the covenant of Abraham and his connection to the Jewish people, creating a link in the unbroken chain of Jewish heritage. This sacred event celebrates new life, parenthood, and the expansion and continuation of the Jewish people.

I work closely with you to craft a ceremony that is meaningful to your family.

About Me

I am Dr. Alison Tothy, a pediatric emergency medicine physician with over 25 years of experience. Board-certified in both Pediatrics and Pediatric Emergency Medicine, I am on faculty at the University of Chicago and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

I have always been passionate about caring for children and supporting families during life’s most meaningful moments. Trained in circumcision by leading experts, I am a certified Mohelet through the National Organization of American Mohalim (NOAM).

As a Mohelet committed to preserving the sacred tradition of Brit Milah, I am honored to guide families through this meaningful experience with care and expertise. My goal is to ensure that your child’s Brit Milah is not only performed with gentle precision but also surrounded by warmth, support, and sensitivity to your family’s unique needs. I strive to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome and valued.

Whether you are seeking guidance, reassurance, or simply want to learn more about this important mitzvah, I am here to help you every step of the way. I look forward to meeting you and supporting your family during this beautiful tradition.
